RENEWAL OF THE REGISTRATION IN THE MUNICIPAL ROLL OF INHABITANTS |
What does the
registration renewal mean?
It is an express declaration and in writing by which an individual expresses
his/her will to remain registered in the Municipal Roll of Inhabitants.
Who is obliged to renew his/her registration?
Every foreigner from non-community* nations who is not an authorized
permanent resident in Spain.
*(Foreigners with a non-community NATIONALITY)
Why is this procedure necessary?
This procedure is mandatory for all the foreigners in the situation
mentioned above and it is made under the provisions of Organic Law 14/2003,
of November 20 on the Reform of the law on the rights and freedoms of
foreigners in Spain.
When does the renewal have to be made?
If TWO YEARS have passed since you proceeded to register at the Town Hall’s
management offices of the Municipal Roll of Inhabitants, YOU MUST PROCEED TO
THE RENEWAL PROCEDURE, consisting in the express declaration in writing
previously mentioned.
What do I have to do to renew it?
To renew your registration in the Municipal Roll of Inhabitants you only
have to go to any of the management offices of the Municipal Roll of
Inhabitants indicated further on, filling in and signing the document you
will be provided with there.
However, if you proceed to modify your domicile or to communicate any data
correction at those offices, you also will be able to make that procedure at
the same time.
You will have to provide all the necessary documents to prove your
identity (NIE -Foreigner Identification Number-, Passport or any other
supporting document).
Is it necessary to make any other procedure?
NO. Only if after TWO YEARS you continue staying in Málaga and you have not
fulfilled the procedure, you will have to make a new renewal and so forth.
What if I don't renew it?
In case you do not renew your registration, the
Town Hall will proceed to make a CANCELLATION RECORD of your registration
and, once this record is finished, your registration will be ultimately
written off the Roll.
How does the non-renewal and the cancellation of the registration affect me?
Once you are written off, you will lose the seniority in the roll from that
date on. This fact can have negative consequences for the management of aids
and numerous administrative procedures, as well as the procedures regarding
public services which require the adducing of documents and certificates
from the Municipal Roll of Inhabitants.
In this case, it will only be pertinent to proceed to a new inscription,
having to adduce the documents required for the registration again.
What if I'm not registered?
You must proceed to your registration by fulfilling
the corresponding registration leaf and handing in all the documents
required for the registration.
The two years period of time before the next renewal will start counting
from that time on.
