Free Golf Lessons for under 14's
As from november, 16,
Laura Cabanillas y Manolo Quiros will teach golf to the kids "empadronados" in Benahavis, and the lessons are completely free. The lessons are on fridays between 4 and 6 PM. Lesson lasts an hour per group. Inscriptions : benadeportes@hotmail.com or tel. 952-855 715 / 690-129 313
How to become "empadronado" in Benahavis

3 & 4 november
Busy weekend, this one. On the night of the 3th of noviember the National Philarmonic Orchestra of Moldavia performs at the Sportshall from 7 PM (
The program will consist of two parts :Part one – Rossini, Sibelius, Grieg, Sviridov and Dvorak. Part two – Mozart, Jachaturian, Piazzolla, Granados, Tchaikovsky and Bizet. ) and on the 4th, the Campeonato de Andalucia de Motocross 2007takes place in the village. Racers will go to the circuit at 10AM from close to the municipal swimming pool..

Invitation from the Guardia Civil
The romeria has finished and on friday, 12th of October , inhabitants of Benahavis are invited again. This time to the yearly party for Spain's national day, hosted by the Guardia Civil corps of Benahavis, and which will take place in the sports hall as from 2PM onwards.

La Romeria & Flamenco on saturday
This Sunday, 7th of October, the local Romeria, a party with food and drinks will be held again between the eucalyptus trees near the chapel on the Benahavis road.
On Saturday evening, as from 22PM a flamenco event with singing and dancing goes on in the sports hall in town.

Bar La Rondeña
The bar formerly known as Bar Ramirez ( or Yogi's bar for the ones that have been here longer ) has changed hands and is opening tonight, friday, 21st September. Chuck and Anna will provide tapas and drinks from 11AM until 12PM. Photos of the opening here tomorrow.

Public school text books collection for 2007-2008 term
From this Friday 14th September in the afternoon, text books can be collected from Papelería Isabel.

Summer cinema
Three children’s films a day will be shown in the covered sports pavilion this weekend. Friday and Saturday movies will start at 8.30PM, 10PM and 11.30PM. For more information, please call the town hall ( 952 855 025 )

Here we are again. The feria is more or less out of our bodies and the hangovers cured, so we're back on track. After a few very hot days, the sky is clouded today, something i don't really regret. Photos from the Feria

Benahavis Feria is here again
Only a couple more days to go now. Next friday, August, 10,  the Bernahavis feria starts, for more days than would be good for our health. A historic year since it is the first year the feria lasts for SIX days.

Benahavis Golf Club at La Zagaleta
The Benahavis Golf Club played at La Zagaleta on July, 18, and the winner was a woman for the first time in its history. Carmen Merchan won the tournament with a score of 43 points on the new La Zagaleta course. She's shown below with our new mayor and the president of La Zagaleta.

New Look Town Hall
It did not take long for the new town council to sort out some changes. As from monday, july 2, a new communications department will start work. Offices will be situated next to the justice of peace. And www.benahavis.net and www.benahavis.com will deliver the latest news from the townhall.

PSOE, and Jose Antonio Mena will officially take the mayor's seat on june, 16.

Looking for a change
Well, you should know by now who you want to vote for. On sunday, we will have a new mayor anyhow, whether it is one from another party or a different one from the PP. Whichever way it goes, I suppose it will make quite some difference, as Antonio Mena steps down.

New PP and PSOE election offices
The Benahavis golfshop has temporarily disappeared to make room for the PP election office whilst the PSOE has inaugurated their election office, but even on their website there is no address (see if you can find out where it is through these photos).

Easter procession nearly called off
The sunday procession did not have any problems with the weather, but the friday one was nearly called off due to the rain. With the start foreseen at 22.00, heavy rain an hour earier raised serious doubts about the possibility of cancellation. Luckily rain stopped and, but for a few drops, the procession did its usual thing.

And then the walls came tumbling down
08/03/07 Yesterday, the retaining wall behind the structure of the new townhall suddenly came down. Although part of it fell on the actual building structure, luckily nobody got wounded.

Construction of social housing
The building company in charge of the construction of 30 social apartments next to the La Aldea urbanisation was assigned yesterday. It is the company GRAMAN with a budget of just under 4 million euros. Building should take 18 months.

Snow on La Palmitera
Woke up and had a look at La Palmitera mountain ( above the Ronda road, and, as I thought, the peak was covered with snow. Just a little bit, although the Ronda road had serious traffic problems further up. Various roads near Ronda had to be closed for traffic as well.

European Football?
The friendly match between FC Brugge and FC Nürnberg seen on the Benahavis football pitch on january,8, could easily be repeated in official European football next year, since Brugge is a steady top three finisher in the Belgian competition and Nürnberg are 7th in Germany, having lost only 2 games.
Result : 1-1 ( goals by Vittek and Vermant )
