Hotspots on the Coast
The following are
places we think are up to the Benahavis standards, either by the
originality or the sheer quality of the premises.
|
Laguna
Village |
THE upmarket shopping centre
annex beach club and bars on the Coast, on the beachside just
before the Kempinski hotel on the N340 direction Estepona.
Beautiful shops, great bars and an amazing beach club with a
huge swimming pool.

Chiringuito-Beach Bar La Ola |
Kike left the Alacena bar, but
opened a beach bar in Marbella, where he and Inma serve a broad
variety of fish. Perfect place for a sunny day.
To get there : drive into Marbella, and go right towards the
beach at the tall copper cone. Follow the street nearest to the
beach, till you get at the Skol Hotel. The beach bar is down at
the beach to the right.

El Huerto de Maria la
Troncha |
Little family hotel and "meson" (
bar & restaurant ), located in Igualeja, one of the Andalucian
white villages, less than an hour from Benahavis. Great spot to
get away from all the hectic of the Coast, although the 10 bars
in the village will keep your alcohol level up.
Get there : when you get to Igualeja, coming to the first square,
where you should park your car, "El Huerto" is some 50 metres
into the street on your right, right in the village of Igualeja
( road to Ronda, to the left about 11 kms before Ronda ).
Open all summer, in winter only during weekends.

Picasso Museum
Malaga |
The Picasso museum in Malaga is
an absolute "must see" for every visitor to the Costa del Sol.
One of the two greatest Spanish 20th century painters ( the
other one being Mirķ ) was born in Malaga, and his doughter,
Paloma Picasso, gave most of the works exhibited to the Malaga
museum. Do not miss it when you are here!!!

|
Valderrama Golf Club |
Venue of the
Ryder Cup in 1997, Valderrama is a 6356 metres par 71
with no hole of less than championship quality but it can be
fully enjoyed by players of all handicaps, thanks to the genius
of Robert Trent Jones, Senior, who found his way
through the trees, try to find yours. Absolutely brilliant ( and
expensive ), but one of these " must play" courses.
Get there : N340 direction Gibraltar and Algeciras, exit at the
Sotogrande hotel on your right.
